Private lessons, or group instruction, at the
Perfect Impact Golf Academy
RATES:
[Private lessons outside of the
school program are
$75 per hour for a single golfer, or $275 for a "day," i.e., 4 hours instruction. If you are in a group of two or more, the rates are
$60 per hour per person. Instruction is based on your needs and
wishes. Phone 800.226.9326 to schedule.]
The "school program" rates are available only for
two or more persons,
not including accommodations (which are available at rates as low as $40 per
day, double occupancy):
One Day $240 per person
(normally 9 am – 1 pm, but flexible... Our discovery is that more than
that amount of time in a LESSON is too strenuous, and that it can actually
create overload, with diminishing returns. The afternoon is left open for
the pupil -- either for practicing things learned at the lesson, or ror play at
any of several nearby quality golf courses.)
Two Days $450 per person
Three Days $675 per
person

THE
INSTRUCTOR
The
Perfect Impact Golf Academy, its approach to how to learn to swing
and to play golf well, using the least wasted effort along the way (enormously
efficient practice…) is unique in all of golf instruction. It is totally
unlike the cookie-cutter, “take this grip, take this stance…” approach of the
most famous and most marketed golf schools in the country (often using
“assistant instructors” who despite playing well, know less than many of their
pupils and are really not informed enough to be teaching someone else)!
Perfect Impact
instruction goes to the heart of what is salient and from which
everything else follows in simplicity and gets fully assimilated, as opposed to
trying to glue innumerable “golf tips” together somehow to make a successful
golf game.
HOW TO LEARN
is neglected in those other schools. It ignores innate neuro-muscular
genius built into all of us that enables us to learn to walk, ride a bike, and
throw a ball without our having to take courses in engineering.
WHAT IS THE OBJECT OF YOUR ACTIONS
is ignored in those other schools, an omission that completely
discounts the deductive ability you already have that enables you to get the
mustard from the fridge without mechanical thought. “What makes you think we
play the piano with our hands?” is the response of the pianist to the observer
unaware of the nature of “concept.”
WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THE GOLF CLUB
is ignored in those other schools, giving rise to the caricatures,
the problems, and the lack of any reduction in handicaps of club golfers year
after year. If you watched The Golf Channel series devoted to “Break 90
in Ten Lessons” a couple years ago, you would have seen the futility of the
fragment approach where one pupil, an engineer and an extremely
intelligent and well-coordinated athlete, “simply didn’t get it.” Guess what
folks: “IT” wasn’t given to him “to get” at all: IT was left out.
That is why the instruction played out with such futility—and in that process
proved to the public how the normal, generic, “do this” approach is so vapid and
insubstantial (instead of “see and understand this core concept of the swing or
the putt and your own brain will enable you with far more precision and clarity
than anyone else can tell you”).
HOW TO MAKE PERFECT IMPACT
is not the same as “how to make a good golf swing,” by a long shot.
Have you ever heard anywhere else that this is even addressed in the
instruction, to say nothing of having it delivered in spades? And in your own
heart you know that your most serious issues on a golf course have to do
with mis-hitting the ball, to which the establishment has you believe it is “a
bad swing” and not something else.
To those who preach that it is
golf swing, I say BALONEY! Because they don’t know how to address the
issue of impact, those instructors must impute your problem to your swing,
instead of acknowledging their own incompetence as to the real issues—which may
be, and usually are, entirely different issues about anatomy and physical
motion. In a word to make the point: impact
position is simply not the same as setup, and things that happen in your body
between takeaway and impact (such as stretching, and your torso moving to a new
place) need to be understood by the golfer so that he can control the extremely
small tolerances that make for great shot making. We address these things;
without them you will still hit fat shots, shank, hit thin, top the ball, and
screw up in other ways without knowing why—all the time believing you are simply
incompetent, not realizing that it isn’t your fault at all: the teacher
left out information you needed. What a lie, what a
preposterous lie. Your bad shots are not about “golf swing” –
THEY ARE ABOUT
THINGS YOU SIMPLY NEED TO KNOW, AND IN KNOWING THEM, YOU ARE THEREFORE ABLE TO
MANAGE THEM!
[If you are average or
better than average and still doubt this, look at your clubs, and chances are
you'll discover that most of the impact marks are toward the toe! Do you
know how much that robs you of accuracy and distance? Do you want to play golf
with that problem all your life?]
In
Perfect Impact golf instruction the pupil is not patronized. His
intelligence is engaged and honored, with the result that his learning curve is
reduced literally from a lifetime to a few days.

This website has
hundreds of absolutely unsolicited testimonials
from people
who out of sheer joy had to write and tell us of their progress, their success,
their ability finally after years of wrestling with other
instruction – i.e., with traditional, “top instructor” methods, books, videos,
and schools. You simply cannot read more than a few of these outpourings to
realize the depth of their gratitude, the breadth of their new discoveries, and
the reinforcement of everything I have said here-above.
People simply do not bother
to take the effort to write such things unless they are really moved. Nor do
they use such emotionally laden words and expressions as you see written here.
So rather than having to toot our own horn, all we suggest is that you read what
these hundreds of golfers of all kinds have to say about our value. One of my
favorites, is “No, your instruction was not an epiphany like I said yesterday,
George: it was an epiphany SQUARED!”
If you don’t care about how
well you are instructed, do not come to the Perfect Impact Academy. You can
probably have a nice golf experience at a generic golf school for less money.
But, in the words of one of
our clients looking back at his struggle after instruction by the most famous
golf teacher in the world, “I realized I had just consumed empty calories as
compared to what I learned from you.” Top of Page
Here are the details:
-
There are no assistant instructors: George
Hibbard does all the teaching.
-
A “class” is normally limited to a maximum of
4 persons, for example, two couples, while we also will accommodate groups of
up to six.
-
We will evaluate the clubs you bring and
how you are fitted with information and suggestions as indicated, advice if
you are not already well served, so that what you use may help rather than
hinder you.
-
Instruction always begins with the
unfolding of extremely simple concepts, from which your own natural ability
immediately accomplishes the instructed item. It is followed with hands-on
personal workout. (To make a comparison, a grammar school teacher could give
you 100 matchsticks to construct a circle and explain their relationship and
help you construct the circle—a laborious and imprecise process. But a real
teacher would give you a compass which would not only enable you to make a
perfect circle immediately; you would also thereby intuit the concept
of circle without needing to wrestle with complexity. A golf swing
itself, and the ways in which a club is used for various tasks, has its own
inherent basically simple inherent “concept” enabling this kind of learning, a
basic idea that facilitates and makes obvious your perfect personal procedure
and form. If taught conventionally, you construct a technique from fragmented
tips and the personal preferences of the teacher, attempting to create
function from form. THAT is backwards: form FOLLOWS function, and in the
process complexity simply disappears.)
-
We start a 9 am daily. Each segment begins
with brief class instruction to communicate the core concepts that convey the
“DNA” of that subject, followed by one-on-one personal attention to make
certain and complete each pupil’s understanding and successful application of
the instruction. It is followed by sufficient drills and “do it with golf
balls” range work to prove and install its lessons and to complete the
internalization of the issues and concepts. The full golf swing, the short
game, putting, distance and direction control, precision impact, maximizing
your swing speed and power, and course- and self-management are the subjects
covered normally over a three day period. Video playback, including slo-mo
and freeze frame, is used for its powerfully revelatory value to remove any
remaining concerns about the efficiency and quality of your progress.
-
A half day runs 9 am till noon with snack
breaks. A full day, 9 to 4, includes lunch, and when appropriate, nine-hole on-course
instruction in the afternoon, after which you may finish 18 holes
or return to the range area for unlimited practice.
-
Normally, with flexibility based on the
class makeup, the first day is about the full swing and precision ball
striking (“perfect impact”), power, and achieving the most efficient golf
swing for your anatomy and strengths. On-course play addresses course and
self management-using your range swing and accomplishments on the course. The
second day addresses distance and direction control and the short game. The
third day is a review of everything previously covered, to address areas
needing additional attention, to deepen your confidence and certainty, and to
“prove” your knowledge. It caps off, summarizes, and provides take-home
certainty for the tee to cup instruction you got in the two previous days.
-
All pupils receive take-home instruction in
DVD and book form such that for the rest of your life you will never need
another golf lesson—you will have become more knowledgeable about your swing
and your performance than most any other golf teacher you could expect to
meet—including those listed as “top instructors,” and you will be your
own best instructor for the rest of your life. What you are taught is plainly
revivified and refreshed for you in those materials that reinforce what you
learned, requiring only the reminders, the points that might have slipped from
your mind, and the certainty that seeing them described again will deepen in
your understanding and skill. Top of Page
SCHEDULE: Classes are normally scheduled Monday, Tuesday, and
Wednesday, but if you need a weekend or other arrangement, we often can
accommodate such a need. Please feel free to call.

THE
INSTRUCTOR: George Hibbard is the author of three books, Perfect
Impact, Golf’s Critical Details, and Golf Is Not That Hard, and
producer of three DVDs: Perfect Impact, 5 Minutes to a Perfect Golf Swing,
and Golf Is Not That Hard (all described in links herein). A
golfer since 1946 and golf teacher for 30 years, Mr. Hibbard’s approach and
teaching ability are unique. It is summed up in a testimonial by the City
Manager of Maitland, FL after viewing 20 minutes of a beginner group class:
“George, I learned more just watching you for 20 minutes than I learned in 20
hours of personal instruction in four series of lessons from four different PGA
pros.”

Please understand this:
our academy program is a no-nonsense, intense but user friendly, golf learning
center, not a showcase or "feel good" cookie cutter program where you think you
have been served but could have gotten a lot more for the money. It is not
intended to be a social event. It is designed with your success in mind,
and that is what we accomplish: expect an exciting epiphany, a furnace of
discovery and joy.
Every pupil is an
individual, and is taught individually, regardless of others in the class (never
more than four). Your needs, your swing, your ball striking, and your
scoring--these are our agenda, and we are very good at producing significant,
sometimes astonishing results! And we never fail to provide a full,
comprehensive, "for the rest of your life" instruction to everyone who comes to
our program. Please read the testimonials here--hundreds!-- that
point to the huge differences experienced by all kinds of people who have been
“everywhere” and who never truly got what they needed until they found us.
Notice the passion in their accounts, the gratitude and joy.

"GUYS ON VACATION"
As for the quality of our
instruction, this was
posted on The Golf Channel bulletin board: "Mr. Hibbard is to the golf swing as Einstein is to relativity.
Quite frankly, I don't understand why this man is not more well known. In my
view, he outdistances some of our more esteemed gurus (not to mention any names,
but David Leadbetter comes to mind.) and,
“Golf's Critical
Details" is one of, if not THE best, pieces of work written in the field of
golf instruction in a long, long time! (but what do I know about it, I've only
been teaching this game for 45 years...)
Thank you, George Hibbard. You are a
genius!!" Posted by “Tex,” (Jonathan Jones), May 24,

THE PERFECT IMPACT GOLF ACADEMY
PLEASE PHONE FOR INFORMATION AND FOR AN ARRANGEMENT THAT WILL MEET YOUR NEEDS. 800-226-9326
Please Read This:
We have a passion for
your discovery of the real issues about your golf game, for your enjoyment, and
for you having the correct information on which you build your golf experience.
Virtually all golf instruction gives the impression that EVERYTHING YOU DO in your golf game is about the SWING! -- as though if your swing is good, your whole game will be good.
But, guess what, folks! It is NOT about the swing. The perfect swinging machine Iron Byron (that is used to test clubs and balls) can top the ball, whiff it, dribble it, slice it, hook it, or ANYthing, if the operator does not place the ball and the club PRECISELY where they must be. And if you watch them set it up, they use precise measuring tools to establish these conditions.
But we are not rigid machines. For us, and if you think honestly and deeply about your own game, without exception from rank beginner to highest level professional, THE ISSUE IS HITTING THE BALL SQUARELY IN THE CENTER OF THE CLUBFACE, IN THE DIRECTION, AND FOR THE DISTANCE, WE WANT IT TO GO. (Notice the name of this site, and of our academy!)
It is about PERFECT IMPACT!
In our book, videos, and academy, you will learn a perfect golf swing in the first 15 minutes and how to execute it - if you can swing your arm, you can swing the club. That is the easy part, and we have so simplified it and perfected how to teach it correctly at the outset so that a child of 8 ‘gets it’ as soon as he sees it presented correctly and simply. And you will learn how to make this swing ever more repeatable and powerful as you continue in your golf experience year after year.
BUT DEAR GOLFER: YOU SO MUCH MORE NEED ANSWERS HOW TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEMS YOU DISCOVER WHEN YOU PLAY -- FOR THINGS THAT MYSTIFY YOU. THESE ARE THE REAL CAUSES OF YOUR GRIEF AND DIFFICULTIES. THESE ARE YOUR REAL ISSUES AND CONCERNS, AND THEY ARE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TERRIBLE GOLF AND GREAT GOLF:
WHY DO I SLICE?
WHY DO I HIT IT ON THE TOE?
WHY DO I HIT IT ON THE HEEL / SHANK?
WHY DO I SKY MY DRIVES?
WHY DO I ALWAYS HIT MY FIRST DRIVE TERRIBLY?
WHY DON’T I GET THE DISTANCE I DESERVE?
HOW CAN I CONTROL MY DISTANCE ON PUTTS AND CHIPS?
YOUR BOTTOM LINE IS PERFECT IMPACT!
AND YOU GO HOME KNOWING HOW!
SUBTLE, ELUSIVE DETAILS make the difference in your ball striking and ability to play golf, AND THAT IS WHAT WE PROVIDE FOR YOU, IN ADDITION TO A GREAT GOLF SWING!
