HERE IS THE REASON FOR, AND THE MESSAGE OF,
"PERFECT IMPACT"
1) A conventional golf swing is taught from positions and dictums that sometimes put people and their parts at a disadvantage for an easy, powerful, controlled golf swing.2) None of the methods to show someone how to succeed at it that I have ever seen elsewhere start with an understanding of how the club behaves in centrifugal release. And that is of such fundamental importance that without it, it doesn‘t matter how much “instruction“ you get - there is no replacing it with imitations, which is to say with motions that “look“ pretty good, but lack the central driving motive, embedded in the golfer‘s head, as to what he is trying to accomplish with his motion. (If you want to swing like Woods, think like Woods!.)
3) So that is our starting point - i.e., an understanding of the behavior of a moving golf club, the release, the exertions applied to it that cause that release and create power and control direction, and how to do it easily and comfortably, no matter how you are built.
After correct club and body behavior is seen with the eyes, felt in the hands and body, and experienced conceptually -- i.e., once the pupil “gets it,” then he takes a grip that permits and induces that release / swing essential. Next he takes his stance -- not from a “textbook model” that represents someone else, but one that for his own body is comfortable for HIM, and that permits and induces the correct, on-plane arm motions, body motions, etc. that allow and induce both body and club behavior to be made efficiently for ANY shots -- whether around the green or on the tee of a 600-yard par five!
And then he is introduced to the concepts and common sense measurements and adjustments, and their reasons!, that make it possible for him to impact the ball dead center. He is shown in great detail and thorough clarity how to recognize things that interfere with perfect impact and exactly what to do to correct for errors on the spot, instead of letting them get "built into" his overall protocol.
If you put someone ‘here’ and hold the club like ‘this,’ with prevalent instruction you might have put him into a position where it is at a minimum difficult, and in many cases nearly impossible to swing well -- like putting a motor in a car without adjusting the timing, balancing the wheels, etc. -- because there is a lot of gradualization in the process - (similar to a child learning to walk or ride a bike) that needs to come first, to grow this seed into a fully balanced, efficient, and accurate swinging tool.
A full adult does not look exactly like he did as a child, but the genetic makeup for that adult had to be in place in the child. In conventionally taught golf instruction, we are asked to "imitate" adults, instead of to grow into them! And we grow into healthy and well balanced “golf swing adults” by using and growing absolutely precise and correct information in our very first motions in their smallest form! -- in their very beginnings -- in their first movement of any kind. So when the motion is seen and understood, the intelligence of the pupil recognizes the logic of it all, and he soon reacts with comments like these: --”Oh, so for me to do that I need to hold the club like this!, and to move enough I need to stand like this, and to get the ball in the air I have to stand like this...and oh, to swing with more clubhead speed I do this -- WOW!
"Oh George, that is so much easier! Thank you for clarifying it for me. Wow, wow, I have to go home and tell momma!"
No, the ‘Perfect Impact’ “system” is not a new kind of swing -- a Natural Golf, Single Axis, or Moe Norman anomaly type of golf swing or a new way to hit golf balls. It is a method for learning the greatest and most commonly used golf swing of all the great golfers from the beginning of the last century: the same swing of Nicklaus, Couples, Els, Woods, Weiskopf, Montgomerie, Watson, Snead, etc. and ALL of the great golfers who use what we refer to as a conventional swing.
My “system” is how to go about making that swing -- how to learn it -- how to be able to do that same swing easily, soon, with precision, with control, without stress, strain, discomfort or struggle. It is the plain and simple basic explanation of how you can do what they do, right now, today!
