Shortly after first opening this book when it arrived three days ago, I realised it was saying things to me that none of the other thirty or so books and videos I have either bought or borrowed recently had. Nor had I heard it from the pro I have been to for lessons.
Yesterday, after reading the first four (of ten) chapters, I went to the practise ground, and before long I was striking balls consistently straight and longer than ever; but better still I was able to do it with relatively little effort. I repeated the exercise this morning, ..right now the golf swing feels like the most natural thing in the world to me, and I feel I am at long last, developing a swing for life. If only I'd discovered this book when I took up the game again ten months ago!! (I hacked around a little, for a short period, eight years earlier and gave up).
This stuff actually isn't rocket science at all, so I simply can not understand why I have not come across any of this advice anywhere else...God knows, I've really looked hard and spent a lot of cash on other books and videos over the last ten months!!!!!
I have also bought the video ... which I would also recommend, particulary to people like me who are trying to building a swing from scratch.
Perfect impact is the most thorough book on the subtleties of the golf swing on the market. It addresses the requirements for perfect impact and why literally no one can hit a golf ball with their perfect practice swing from a conventional address position. Other concepts espoused are similar to david lee's gravity golf concepts(george gives full credit to david lee).... but the chapter on setup alone is worth the somewhat hefty price. When you have mastered your own perfect address geometry, you will for the first time be able to make a full force exuberant swing and achieve perfect impact....well done george......Joel waldman
"I purchased the Butch Harmon DVD a few months ago when it first came out. I was very impressed with the quality of the presentation - very glossy and polished.
Not to take anything away from Mr. Harmon but after viewing the video, I felt like I had just consumed empty calories of instruction. Having just finished the Perfect Impact videos (all 4 hours!) where George goes into incredible detail about everything he talks about, Butch's 2 minutes on the grip, etc. seemed to just be skimming the surface of a very deep topic. It was good from an entertainment perspective but at least for me, the teaching was just text book, 'do it this way because I said so' type of thing. FROM A 9 HANDICAP TO A 4.3 TO A 5-UNDER FOR 13 HOLES IN A SHORT TIME
I haven't even used much of the PI info yet, but just the little I picked up, really made a difference in my consistency. It took me a couple games to get used to the additional distance I picked up though. And since you asked about my handicap, I started last year with a 9 handicap and ended up with a 4.3 after using some of the PI info. My last round of the year (which really was only 13 holes), I was 5 under after 13. I've never played that well through those 13 holes before. Granted, I could have bogeyed all of the remaining holes, but my point is, with a little work, I've really been seeing some good stuff. Too bad winter showed up.
