I
had the opportunity to be in the St. Augustine area this weekend and the great
luck of being able to meet George personally.
We
spent about an hour and a half together, and let me tell you it was a great
pleasure, not only because I got to meet George, but we spent time on the
range and he answered any and all questions, concerns regarding the Perfect
Impact swing and my most important, my swing.
One
thing is for certain, the difference in my ball strinking was to say the least
awsome. Yes, I goofed up a few times, but after really learning the PI methood,
the fixes came easy and I figured them out on my own, and my hits were all
solid, had great distance and tremendous height.
The
key will be to continue to practice, but that is my responsibility.
If
anyone has any doubt, please ask me anything, the swing priciples work, the
key is to understand what you are doing and realizing how to fix your own
mistakes, and as you know that is very difficult.
I
strongly recommnenfd PI for anyoone who has had trouble with their ball striking,
and if you do get the chance, work with George, he is very, very patient (
I am a stubborn student), and he truly makes you feel the swing with his instruction.
Please
post or e-mail me with any questions and I will be more than glad to answer
them.
George:
I
bought your tape and book a few weeks ago. Although I played golf in HS and
College, I hadn't played again until I was 49. Three years, a dozen or
so books and tapes, countless lessons later - I still couldn't hit my driver
with any consistency. My iron game was mediocre. In the short period of time
since I have read your book there has been a dramatic increase in the quality
of my ball striking. I have often speculated about much of what you say -
but never really put it into practice. You brought
it all together for me. Your training material has to be the BEST ever. Thanks
also for responding to my "Ham & Eggs" post on how to prevent
sky marks.
Well
anyway, to make a long story short (its probably too late for that), I went
to the range this morning. Its one of these ranges where they teach
at the opposite end of the range. I never hit the ball better. Your method
has allowed me to find my swing (not to sound like Baggar Vance). My swing
is more free and natural - less effort - straighter -
longer. I was hitting drives over 270 yards! This is from someone who, up
to a few weeks ago, never hit a drive over 240. As a matter of fact, they
suggested at the range that I not hit my driver any more this morning (the
range is only about 300 yards). That is the best compliment I have ever
gotten!
Thanks
I
decided a while back that I must own a Whippy and the PI stuff. As I have
never had any formal instruction, I started with the PI 45 minute tape and
book, as I wanted to make sure my basic fundamentals were solid. A whippy
is in my near future. Anyway, I received the PI video/book combo last Thursday.
I was playing in a scramble on Friday. I watched the tape Thursday evening,
swung a club in the living room a few times (yes the spouse wasn't home).
Totally contrary to George's advice, I took three of his concepts immediately
to the course the next day- Stance width, ball position at address and the
"magic" thumb. Got to the event, a political fundraiser, they had
40 Foursomes for the 18 hole event!. Great. I grabbed my pw, 5 iron and driver
and headed to the range. Stretched a bit, then took small swings with the
PI tecniques, concentrating on the 3 fundamentals listed above. Good direction
control, good length and height. After warming up a bit, I was having no problems
making solid contact. I then grabbed the 5 iron. 7 shots in a row, dead straight
over the 150 flag by about 20-30 yards. Easily some of the best 5 irons I've
hit in a long time. Grabbed the driver, same swing, ball was all over the
place. Went back to the 5 iron, 3 more perfect shots. Smiling, I returned
to the cart to put my clubs away. I was absolutely stunned. I stood there
staring at my clubs. I thought I had pulled the 5 iron, but it was my 7 IRON!
Huge difference with the PI swing versus my previous 7 iron shots. Smiling
even bigger, play proceeded.
Highlights-
Guy in our foursome brought his lazer range finder, which I used a few times
to see how far a few of the drives I hit were. On the course, I figured out
that I had the ball too far back in my stance with the driver. Moving it forward
and using the PI swing, I hit some long, boring drives that gave me goose
bumps. All I did was watch the stinking video once and applied 3 things, and
I hit some of my best shots ever. Driver over a lake- 270 carry, middle of
fairway. Bite and spin lob wedges. Driver on a long par 4- 300+. 3 iron up
hill into a two club breeze 180 yards, pin high. I did struggle with pushing
the ball at times, but I know this can be addressed with some set up issues.
No fade/slices, no hooks but one power draw that stayed in play, and it was
clearly from trying to muscle up and forgetting what I was trying to do. The
future's looking good....Thanks George,

my answer of "yes and yes" --
I
came into this as a committed skeptic. I've never used or bought an instructional
video in my life. I didn't expect anything good to come of this. In fact,
it was only George's moneyback guarantee that convinced me to take the plunge.
My results?
My
local handicap has dropped from 13 to 11 since using the P.I. tape. It had
pretty well become stable -- oscillating between 13 and 14 for well over a
year. P.I. was a breakthrough! Another round of 81 or better and the handicap
will drop another point.
Thanks
George!
W.D.
It's
happening to me too...I'm hitting the ball ...crazy long. I hit a 3wood over
the back of a par 4 from the tee box. Hitting 150 yard nine irons with a 3/4
swing...it's getting to easy. I now have my whippy driver whipPIn out there
straight or a solid draw. I haven't changed the ball position in my stance,
so I'm thinking it's the centrifugal force that the whiPi ingrains into your
swing. This is how it starts? Euda, and Justin are both experiencing the same
results that I'm getting...Foreleft is hitting 220 yard 5 irons. Ain't life
great?!

pm To: ALL (1 of 2) "/golfequip/messages?msg=53242.1" George and
all,
I
just wanted to put my .02 in for PI. I have stayed away from the GEA for a
long while after having sworn off equipment as the answer to improving my
golf game and returned to find the best instructional resource I have ever
seen right here as part of the GEA!
Knowing
that any sponsor of the GEA has passed the scrutiny of the most demanding,
critical, skeptical and wildly enthusiastic golfers on the planet, I immediately
purchased George's full package.
I
am delighted and astounded by George's ability to uncover and communicate
the subtleties of the dynamics of swinging the golf club. For two years I
have understood intellectually that the proper way to swing a golf club is
through centrifugal (sp) force. Having read and tried to apply the teachings
of Ernest Jones and Jim Flick I have improved a little, but never really "got
it".
By
George I think I have now got it!!! George you really have unlocked the secret
to better golf. I am already seeing many of my ingrained "IRS" reactions
melting away on the practice range. Your drills really work to begin to ingrain
the proper techiques that then transfer to achieving "perfect impact".
It
is going to take me a while to develop my swing and capabilities using PI,
but It is all there for the taking. For the record, I am a 12 and just last
week won my flight at my club's match play championship -- before PI. I have
always been frustrated because I have been a good athlete and a good competitor
but never been able to be a good or consistent golfer. I have always felt
I was a single digit handicapper trapped in a hack's body.
George
thanks for giving me the keys to unlock my potential as a golfer. I am absolutely
committed to following the drills and the process as prescribed and will update
as I progress. Fellow GEA'ers, If you are like me and need to have the big
picture and know the why's and how's of the golf swing get the PI full package.
The short video is a great overall introduction to the key techniques, but
the book and long video series really bring it all together. I got benefit
from both the book and the videos as some of the concepts and drills in the
book made more sense to me when I saw them executed on video.
George,
thanks. Keep up the great work!! BTW my package arrived in three days after
ordering -- Great service George!

to jump in here. I received the tape and video about 3 weeks ago. Start working
on it, hit thousands of balls. Works great at the range. Went to the course
on Saturday, par the first hole (par 4). Shot an eight on the second (par
4), with 2 chips and 4 putts. Then I lost it for the next 2 holes - totally.
On
the teebox of the 5th hole I made a few practice swings and noticed that my
left wrist is cupped at the top. I concentrate on keeping it flat, bingo,
straigth shots with 'perfect impact', no fat, thin or whatever shots. I did
shank my SW once by gripping the club to tight to try and steer the ball.
This
was the most enjoyable round I have played in a long time, only thing I was
concentrated on during the backswing was the left thumb on line and left wrist
at the top. Couldn't believe the distances and accuracy. I flew the green
with a 9-iron from about 130m (lost the ball in the bush). Hit a PW on a par3
(121m) to 6 inches. Get lots of backspin which is unusual for me. Can't hit
the driver, but 4-wood went a mile.
Thanks
George, this was the best golf lesson I have ever taken. It is really easy
once understood. It took me longer than 5 minutes (slow learner), but I don't
hev to wonder anymore. Just the left thumb (and wrist).

This
thread is dedicated to George H. who has spent alot of time helping me with
my hitting skanks(toe shots). See Hitting off the Toe, part 1-3.
I
have spent the entire year hitting toe shots. Every once in a while I would
catch one sweet but everything else was off the toe. I have tried EVERYTHING!
Golf Digest, Golf Magizine, The Golf Channel, The LAWS of golf, etc. George
continued to help by giving me tips but nothing he said seem to help. I have
gone to the range 4+ times a week and a few times thought that maybe I found
the cure only to be proven wrong the next time I played.
A
week ago I hit rock bottom on the course. I was hitting so far off the toe
that I almost missed the ball! I decided that even though George's advice
didn't do anything for me I would buy his starter tape and give it a shot(based
on the reviews).
I
HAVE FOUND THE CURE FOR THE SKANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its
called PERFECT IMPACT.
Man,
this stuff is for real. I followed his advice and started real slow but within
a week I have a completly new swing. I already used the grip (same as LAWS,
width player) so the only thing I had to concentrate on was the swing itself.
I had immediate success with hitting it sweet. After 3 times at the range
I started hitting long irons. Today I spent and hour hitting balls. NOT ONE
BALL WAS HIT EVEN CLOSE TO THE TOE! I am amazed. Even when I felt like I completely
came out of the shot I still hit the center. In fact, the worst shots I had
were shanks. I haven't hit a shank in so long I didn't know what to think.
The shot patterns on every club is less than the size of a quarter.
I
now know exactly what I was doing wrong. The PI technique just got my hands
back into the right position. I think what makes the difference is the simplicity
of the swing thought and the path of the hands.
Thank-you
George for sharing your secrets of the swing. I would encorage anyone who
is having problems to buy the video. I think that it is especially good for
accomplished golfers that have good swings but have something that keeps it
from working. The PI technique WILL allow you to see the light!
George,
if you would have said "Try my video" you could have saved me alot
of time. I know that thats not your style but just a comment!
Now
to start scoring again.
Bear
I
started the thread because more and more, I'm finding that with PI, George
has been able to present fundamentals in a way that may them accessible to
most of us. When I started with PI, I thought the grip was different than
what most teachers taught--now, even though I've really tried to put together
a good grip, I don't think I've ever really gotten it into the figers--what
I saw in the Harmon article was the grip which George communicates so effectively
in PI. When I watch pros I notice most finish the backswing at the right shoulder
-- the image of the left thumb used by George accomplishes this. I suspect
the stance width is probably going to be determined by a person's build and
athleticism--if one can transfer their weight smoothly and turn around a wider
base I don't see how it could hurt, when I've tried to widen my stance much
I either fail to ever get the weight onto the right side, or I never get it
off the right side. My point was that I don't think PI is a unique system,
instead George has just done a terrific job of communicating fundamentals.
"/golfequip/messages?msg=53495.14" in reply to \l "a13"
I humbly bow to the Perfect Impact God on the subject of grip... that being
said here is my tale.... I ordered the video... got much better, ordered the
book... have studied it so much that I have created a handwritten index in
the back of the book...rewatched the video at least 6x...
FINALLY
I GOT IT... since 9th grade (I will be 50 next month) I have been interlocking
my grip... but my hands are X-Large and won't let me put the right center
of the palm on top of the left thumb with an interlocking grip... so.... overlap
time...
I
am now at least 25-30 yards longer, +/- 5 degrees on direction -- used to
be +/- 15 degrees... hitting greens off of the tees on par 3s consistantly...
this is so much fun I can't stand it... I'm excited about the game for the
1st time in my life and I can't wait to attend the September session with
George that I have signed up for....

18 at a new (to me) executive course today armed with my 20 year old wilson
blades and new (and improving every day) PI swing. the new grip has finally
taken hold and i'm striking the ball great now through the bag with less effort
- the swing feels almost automatic if you work on the PI setup fundamentals.
anyway - 8 birds against 3 bogeys today in 3 trips around the course ( 9 holes
). the highlight was 3 in a row with a pw, 9i, and then a 7i from 165 to 5
feet. one thing that the new swing has done is really help my distance control
- almost unconsciously though. i have been able to hit a pw where i used to
force a sw and either mis-hit or spin the ball too much (i know we don't all
have these problems, but i used to LOAD the ball with spin). i've played good
rounds before but today seemed like a definite turning point - the wilson
irons were also sweet as can be. i am no longer against blades -- these wilsons
are as easy to hit as any iron i've ever tried - and mishits are not as severely
penalized as i have experienced with other blades. i love these so much i
just got the matching 2 iron and sw off ebay. now i have to start thinking
about rechroming / reshafting. this could get really expensive! it's funny
how after all the $$ i have spent on clubs, that a $150 set from ebay that
are almost as old as i am can make such an impression. thanks to clubwerks
and mfdugan for bringing these to my attention! just goes to show how the
overhyped and overmarketed clubs we have today are no better, just more expensive.

I
have gotten great benefit by purchasing the whole package. I feel like I have
purchased the "rosetta" stone of golf instruction. I am the type
that needs to understand why and also the type that has tried to build a swing
over the years with a piecemeal approach without really understanding the
big picture.
The
book and the 4 hour companion video set really help you understand the entire
process of swinging a golf club and gives you a step by step approach to become
your own teacher.
You
cannot go worng by just getting the "short course" as a starting
point, but if your hesitation has to do with whether PI is "right for
you", don't worry. George's whole approach centers around building a
powerful, repeatable swing specifically designed to "fit" your bodies
capabilities.
It
is the opposite of providing golfers with a "swng system" that they
have to conform to.
Good
luck

my habit of having millions of swing thoughts.
My backswing thought has come down to only just one: the left thumb along
the target line & up to right ear. On downswing, I simply pulling the
butt end with my left hand to the ball.
I've been practicing this PI method for nearly 3 months now. I spent the whole
first month practicing only at the range, 3-4 times a week.
After I reach to a point where I can hit long irons -it used to be my major
problem- I took my PI swing to the course.
I shot 85. It could've been lower if I knew that I'd get this unbelievable
gain in distance.
The other area that PI has been so beneficial to me is how consistent I'm
hitting the ball. In the end, it gives me a more consistent score.
My last 4 rounds before PI were 79-89-80-92. Now it's 82-78-80 and @ the last

I still can't believe I can shoot that low.
Most of all... in my 7 yrs of playing this game, it has never been this fun!

WHAT
OTHERS HAVE TO SAY
Dear
George, I started playing again in June after a seven year layoff and promptly
realized I'd never get decent without some help.
Your
materials arrived on Oct 22 and today I finally broke 80. I'd shot 81a few
times and got my index down to around a 12.5 but could never break into
the seventies.........until today. I shot a 75 on a 6,000 yd course that
I've played many times--40 on the front and 35 on the back. This after finally
doing what you advised: hit short shots until you figure out how to get
perfect impact. I'm certainly not perfect yet and 75 isn't going to impress
many people, but for me it's a milestone.
Thanks
George! Ken Holmes

This is the second weekend I have played since viewing the tape and my results
have been nothing short of astounding for me. Watched the tape and actually
read the little book that came with the tape and the grip instruction finally
sinked in. ... I went out to an executive course near my house and joined
up with a twosome that was there... Well, I crushed this course! I was two
over on the front 9 and 1 under on the back for a combined score of 1 over.
Pretty good for me because the last time I played this course during the
winter, I shot a 93 there. That's right, a 93 on a par 61!
I love this game now. Now I have a connected torso driven swing and the
ball rockets effortlessly. I finish in a picture perfect balanced position
and I have gained ridiculous distance and accuracy because I hit shots on
or close to the sweet spot now and I can hit a baby draw or big draw on
demand. I haven't mastered a fade yet, but I am questioning whether or not
I really need to.
At any
rate, for me, the Perfect Impact tape is simple, but effective. The Perfect
Impact tape filled in all the gaps and simplified things like the grip,
stance, and ball position. If I get these last three right, I hit perfect
golf shots! I absolutely love it. E.

Dear
George,
Your clear advice finally sunk in. I know you said (in your materials) to
not jump to long irons or the driver but I thought that was aimed at people
with higher handicaps than mine. So I glossed over your instructions and
paid the price. Now I've learned not to gloss over anything you say.
As I keep learning, whenever I grasp some subtle point I realize that you
said it in plain English somewhere in your material but I just didn't take
it seriously enough at the time. So I now take great pains to let your advice
sink in. Maybe it's because I'm 52 and some of my bad habits were deeply
ingrained.
So I stand by my initial review that I posted on the newsgroup and continue
to recommend your materials whenever anybody asks for advice.
Unfortunately,
many people I talk to simply don't realize what a goldmine you offer. They've
been burned by other instructors and other materials and can't quite believe
that you teach principles whereas virtually everyone else offers superficial
advice. I've been within earshot of several lessons given to others over
the past few months and I cringe at the lack of effectiveness of the instruction.
Most instructors have no idea about how to teach the typical student.
Thanks again for your classic work. I know that your work will stand the
test of time and hope you take great pride in that.
Best regards, Ken

I have all of George's materials and at first, last October, I ignored his
advice to practice the wedges. I made progress but it wasn't until I took
my shag bag and sand wedge out for several hours a day over a two week period
that some of the concepts hit home: sometimes you read it and see it on
tape several times but still don't really grasp it until one day the light
goes off. With the information and hard work I largely eliminated my over
the top/sway problem and started playing much better golf. During the last
30 days I cracked the 80 barrier, shooting in the 70's 3 times. I can't
do it all the time of course, but it wasn't too long ago that I felt that
my chances of breaking 80 were about the same as winning the lottery.
I particularly like the 4 hour tape series and would emphasize that George
doesn't offer a magic cure or a new and novel swing. Rather he provides
information by explaining what you need to accomplish with your grip, setup,
backswing, downswing etc. and that you must spend time experimenting to
correct errors and find your own particular style. In brief, it's not about
copying exactly the swing of someone else, George's included.... So within
certain fundamental guidelines, we must all &DISCOVER; our own unique
swing through trial and error.

After about 3 weeks watching your tape, practicing and messing around, a
500-watt light bulb finally clicked. Now, I am swinging instead of hitting,
pulling & letting centrifugal force to release my club. I don’t have
to think about the release, thus I'm not ball-bound. That creates the mental
tendency to HIT which gave me so much tension. I find that tip about your
club line intersecting with my right shoulder most helpful. It puts me in
plane, and from there I just rotate to the max then pull my hand down &
let it rip. I'm still new to this new feeling so I have quite a bit more
to fine tune myself. Also, I found that left foot staying open helps a lot
from swaying, keeping the left knee to stay inward. This is the best $30.00
investment of all my golfing expenses. I highly recommend to anybody who
wants to improve on their golf game. Thanks George. Bernie

OUTSTANDING
and UNIQUE. A MUST BUY.
Shortly after first opening this book when it arrived three days ago, I
realized it was saying things to me that none of the other thirty or so
books and videos I have either bought or borrowed recently had. Nor had
I heard it from the pro I have been to for lessons. Yesterday, after reading
the first four (of ten) chapters, I went to the practise ground, and before
long I was striking balls consistently straight and longer than ever; but
better still I was able to do it with relatively little effort. I repeated
the exercise this morning,..Right now the golf swing feels like the most
natural thing in the world to me, and I feel I am at long last, developing
a swing for life. If only I’d discovered this book when I took up the game
again ten months ago!! (I hacked around a little, for a short period, eight
years earlier and gave up). This stuff actually isn’t rocket science at
all, so I simply can not understand why I have not come across any of this
advice anywhere else…God knows, I’ve really looked hard and spent a lot
of cash on other books and videos over the last ten months!!!!! Grrr.. I
have also bought the video (directly from the authors at www.perfectimpact.com)
which I would also recommend, particularly to people like me who are trying
to building a swing from scratch.

Well I have had the tapes and book and companion video for a little over
a week now and I have to say Awesome. Very simple and straightforward. I
had started working on my set up based on what George was saying over the
forum and had already made leaps and bounds in ball striking. I was OK before
hand and had changed myself up to be a little more ‘’textbook.” Well I went
to hitting everything off the toes and could not get rid of it.
Took Georges advice and voila. Right dead center every time. There is a
lot of info on the tapes and I would strongly suggest it to everyone. Even
for only the setup. I also changed my grip for chipping and that also made
a great difference in control. I am staring now to do the drills for the
rhythm and can feel a difference. Thanks for a great system.

This looks really good. It is about time someone figures out how to learn
the swing without all the complexity. I hope he teaches with out constantly
fanning his right hand around like McLean or goofy words like Lee’s “counterfall”;
It is amusing that 5 minutes to Perfect Impact is on a 45 minute tape. Is
he telling golf jokes for the other 40 minutes? Just kidding, more is better
if it is helping.

I have
the book and the”5 Minutes to a perfect golf swing...”; both are excellent.
There definitely is some detail in the book that isn’t covered in the video,
but I don’t think the &"; 5 minute“; video was meant as the end
all be all, merely a starting point.
It is
very clear in what you should do, and George is a master at conveying golf
swing principles. It really is amazing how simple the golf swing is after
studying his materials. I will be ordering the 4 hour video series because
I want to hear everything he has to say about golf!
I have yet to test the swing out on the course, but my practice sessions
have been extremely encouraging.

Guys,
I ordered
George Hibbard’s Perfect Impact book and “5 Minutes”; video last week and
thought I would post my initial comments...I have yet to watch the video
and I am about halfway thru the book so once I have finished I will come
back and add more to these initial thoughts.
First...a
little overview of my game up to this point this year. I started the year
as a 6 handicap. My best round until this week was a 77 with most scores
in the 78-82 range. I struggle with consistency. Some days, I go out and
carry my driver 250-260 hitting it very straight...other days I go out and
carry it 230 with left to right curvature. Irons are also inconsistent.
Short game (particularly pitches in the 20-50 yard range) needs a lot of
work. Consistency in my setup also needs a lot of work.
I got the book on Monday and started reading it. Like some others here have
posted, this book definitely has said some things that I had never heard
from other so-called expert golf teachers before. The sections on grip and
how to orient the club properly in relationship to your left arm was worth
the full price of the materials for me. I had always thought I had a fairly
decent grip until I read George's section on the grip. I then realized that
I had never really put my hands on the club consistently from day to day...
which makes any type of consistency impossible. The only things from the
book I have incorporated into my swing up to this point is the proper grip
and the proper left arm to club relationship.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I shot my two best rounds of the year
(Tuesday's round was my best ever). On a short 6200-yard course with a 69.5
rating and a 125 slope I shot a 68 hitting 13/14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens.
On Wed. I played a 7000-yard course with a 72.5 rating and a 138 slope and
shot 73 hitting 10 of 12 fairways and 11 of 18 greens. I've only broken
74 3 times in the previous 2 years until this week.
I cannot say enough good things about George's instruction materials. His
teaching style just clicks for me and I cannot wait until I get through
the book and incorporate the rest of the material into my swing. Anyone
out there looking for good, no-BS instruction owes it to themselves to buy
this book. I was skeptical at first but after reading some other folks'
impressions of George's material I took the plunge. He also makes the deal
very good for GEA members (something like a 40-50% discount, I don’t recall
the numbers exactly).

I have
a copy of the short tape”5 Minutes to Perfect Impact”; and I think I’m going
to order the book. My short game is ten times better than it was before
watching the video. I think the improvement has come about because I'm getting
much more consistent contact.
When I miss a shot it is missed toward the heel which results in very little
loss of distance an a shot that isn't that far off line. My misses before
watching the tape were usually heavy or thin which produced inconsistent
distance.
My problems with the swing now are mostly with the full swing with the shorter
clubs (9,PW,GW,SW). I know that it is a setup flaw and not a problem with
the instruction.
George has been very helpful by trying to correct my problems with the short
irons but it is very hard to explain what the problem is via email. I'm
sure he could fix my problem in about five minutes in person. I hope reading
the book allows me to correct the problem on my own.
I think that anyone wanting to shave a few strokes off of their handicap
could benefit from George's video. I'll post my reactions to the book after
I read it.

I too am having great success with the Perfect Impact program. I went ahead
and ordered the book after seeing positive results from the “5 minutes”
video. I have a mini-range in my backyard and have been sticking to the
short shots as George recommends. I did, however, go to the range with my
dad this weekend and hit the ball great. My dad was impressed although he
was under the impression that he fixed me;) its really difficult to attempt
the swing when a trained eye is watching you because there are some things
that go somewhat against the grain. My dad kept telling me to "reach
out"; and bend over more. I resisted and hit the ball great. The book
does cover some detail that the tape doesn't. the discussion about the pendulum
motion and George's "Imperatives" are excellent, and really open
your eyes. I'm re-reading the book and "re-discovered" one of
the imperatives of keeping the arms limp. When executed properly, the swing
feels as natural as walking. There’s a "certainty" to the swing
that i love. No more apprehension about where on the clubface I'm going
to strike the ball. The law of gravity and my natural timing assure me of
solid contact. It’s really quite a joy!
Congrats on your success! Shoot me an email and maybe we can talk about
the swing and the things that you've learned. You probably know this, but
George is great at fielding questions. He is really eager to share what
he knows. I am seriously considering getting some personal instruction from
him just to make sure 100% there. Good luck!

George,
I recently ordered your book (first edition) and am extremely pleased with
the almost immediate results.
My swing tempo is completely different than before. My progress probably
was facilitated by having seen David Lee's video some time ago, but it still
didn't all come together until your book.
In addition, the book "Search for the Perfect Golf Swing" talked
about the transition move you are advocating. Again, however, that book
didn't articulate the point, in my opinion, with the clarity you did; nor
was it as enlightening as you were in how to accomplish the correct transition
move.
I do have one question which you might be willing to expand on. You state
that "The first forward motion of the hips is SOLELY for the purpose
of "walking back to", or placing, the body weight onto the forward
foot WHILE THE BACKSWING IS STILL FINISHING ITS UPWARD MOTION." The
thing I would like to know if after this motion is completed and the weight
is back on the left foot, should I still be in no hurry to unwind (feel
like I'm pausing)? Or I am free to unwind immediately after that?
Thanks in advance.

Dear
Mr. Hibbard,
First, I would like to say thanks. I ordered "Perfect Impact"
after talking to an associate at my local club. He had just come home from
attending your academy. His excitement over his newfound knowledge and new
swing got my attention. By the way, where did his EXTREME slice go?
I must say that my ball striking already has considerably improved since
I began working my way through the book (even from as early as the first
couple of pages). I'm currently working hard on trusting gravity, which
is really tough for me. I have always been a "hitter" of the ball
and over the last few years have grooved an extremely right-sided swing
(more like a chop). Even with that bad swing, a few years ago I was able
to break 80 once in a while. But I've been working a lot more the last few
years and not playing much as much golf (until four months ago). I was sad
to find that the old chop just wouldn't work any more. I used to be able
to just look at a 90-yard wedge shot and put it close without thinking,
but now I was struggling just to avoid shanking it (how negative). And believe
me - I think I was racking up the shank record (got to the point where I
was afraid to take the club back).
Well, enough of the negative and on with my question. I'm working on controlling
direction and allowing (trusting) gravity to work for me. On page 127 of
the book, paragraph 3 states "IT IS THE ADDITIONAL BACKWARDS FALL OF
THE UPPER BODY (IN A DIRECTION OF ABOUT 70% TO THE REAR) THAT TRIGGERS THE
ROTARY MOTION OF THE BODY". I'm confused about where the REAR is in
this BACKWARDS FALL. Is it behind me (the stairs example seems to indicate
so), or is it to my right (away from the target)?
My short irons (7-iron through wedge) seem to be going consistently left
when I'm making good contact. I'm trying to make sure that I'm getting my
weight to the left before rotation and concentrating on rotating around
the left hinge. I'm also conscious of ball position and have tested adjustments
towards and away from the target. Could I have too strong a grip? I'm setting
my grip using the procedure shown on page 53. What are some other possibilities?
Spine tilt (not enough) maybe?
I am soooooo close to to having my scores drop drastically because I've
been consistently placing my tee shots in the scoring zone. My tee shots
have been accurate (and long - thank you George). I’m not pulling my drives
(can hit my drives straighter than my wedge right now). I'm getting a whole
lot of 8-iron or less opportunities from the middle of the fairway, but
in such cases I'm not knocking the flag down (shouldn't I be) and probably
am hitting the green less than 20% of the time (so way too few birdie putts).
My putting is OK and sometimes is in a zone that makes my playing partners
hate me. But, I can't make birdie putts from off the green - HELP; all I
ever seem to be putting for is par.
Thanks for listening.
Is there hope?
Thanks,
Glenn Cunningham

Perfect
impact is the most thorough book on the subtleties of the golf swing on
the market. It addresses the requirements for perfect impact and why literally
no one can hit a golf ball with their perfect practice swing from a conventional
address position. Other concepts espoused are similar to David lee's gravity
golf concepts (George gives full credit to David lee).... but the chapter
on setup alone is worth the somewhat hefty price. When you have mastered
your own perfect address geometry, you will for the first time be able to
make a full force exuberant swing and achieve perfect impact.... well done

George,
Thanks for the help. It would seem that I took the mantra "you can
never be too close to the ball" a bit too seriously. Backing away a
couple of inches ended the problem and, as a side benefit, improved my posture
at address. I'm back to being a reasonable ball-striker.
I'm having a good time with your materials. The best part, for me, is the
drills that can be done without a ball. With two small children and one
big job, range time is limited. I have found that I can use your basic drills
to work on my game a few minutes each night, even without making it to the
range.
I'm glad you have come to the GEA and even more happy that I ordered your
book and video.

"Dear George,
Over the last four days I've put in 11 hours on a practice area hitting
virtually nothing but 40-65 yd wedges Your clear advice finally sunk in.
I know you said in your materials not to jump to the long irons or the driver
but I thought that was aimed at people with higher handicaps than mine.
So I glossed over your instructions and paid the price. Now I've learned
not to gloss over anything you say.
As I keep learning, whenever I grasp some subtle point I realize that
you said it in plain English somewhere in your material but I just didn't
take it seriously enough at the time. So I now take great pains to let your
advice sink in. Maybe it's because I'm 52 and some of my bad habits were
deeply ingrained.
So I stand by my initial review and continue to recommend your materials
whenever anybody asks for advice. Unfortunately, many people I talk to simply
don't realize what a goldmine you offer. They've been burned by other instructors
and other materials and can't quite believe that you teach principles whereas
virutally everyone else offers superficical advice. I've been within earshot
of several lessons given to others over the past few months and I cringe
at the lack of effectiveness of the instruction. Most instructors have no
idea about how to teach the typical student.
I'm off to Florida and wish I were close enough to come over and take
a lesson or two from you. But I'll be in too farfor a quick drive over --
someday I hope to meet you and get some "hands-on" instruction.
Thanks again for your classic work. I know that your work will stand
the test of time and hope you take great pride in that.
Best regards, Ken"

"This
video ("5 Minutes....) , together with the Perfect Impact book simply
said things to me that I have neither seen nor heard in any one of the thirty
or so videos and books I have bought or borrowed over the last 12 months
since I started playing. In my opinion the central message on this video
should be in **every** single video and book on the market which purports
to help those trying to build, or improve, a golf swing. But it simply isn't!!!
All I can say is that after studying this material, I went to the driving
range and hit the most effortless and longest shots ever, with two excellent
players there - a teaching pro and a 5 handicapper - commenting on the sheer
logarithmic growth in my ball striking....I suspect they think I'm getting
lessons elsewhere else.. LOL..
Seriously, this video is heaven sent if you're a relative novice like
me, ..I can't recommend it highly enough" Felicity

"Just walked over to my bookshelf and counted
24 golf books and 14 golf videos. I currently play to a 12 index.
Frustrated with my swing mechanics, I took six lessons in August and September,
five by a former PGA teacher of the year, I've been to golf schools and
had lessons by a variety of instructors, some of whom were very highly regarded
but rarely anyone with a great gift for communicating what I needed to know.
My three favorite books were Pelz's putting, short game, and Swing Like
A Pro. I received the video "5 Minutes to a Perfect Golf Swing..."
3 days ago. After watching it, I felt I actually caught a glimpse
of the light at the end of the tunnel. George actually communicates
the fundamental golf swing in such a simple manner that I finally grasped
it, something all those lessons had failed to do." [this comment
was followed up 2 days later with:] "When you have been in
the presence of a great teacher, you have the feeling of being amazed at
how much you know, and how smart you are... I read scores of books
every year, lots of philosophy and some of the tougher books you can think
of. When someone makes an extremely difficult subject very understandable,
then in my opinion they have a highly unique talent. Your work ranks
in the classic category and it will never leave my possession. And it is
not just about theory. After a bit of practice and experimentation
with a couple of your suggestions, I then played a round of golf.
In that round I averaged my longest drives of the year, and I hit several
irons over the green (they went too far)!" Comments from

"Dear George,
I purchased your tape "5 minutes to a perfect golf swing" several
months ago and have watched it several times. I want to personally congratulate
you on what I believe to be the finest specimen of golf instruction out
there. my problem has been that lessons I received in the past have always
been too position related (i.e., hips there, arms here, head there, ad nauseum)
and I believe that this has made me somewhat stiff and mechanical. Most
instructors and books also seem to overemphasize connection and the body
swing and as much as I have tried this, it just doesn't work for me ultimately
causing a malignant over the top situation. by following your simple advice,
I was able to see the swing more as a continuum and my swings feel more
fluid. I still come over the top at times, but I don't think it is as severe.
your section on the grip was especially useful ... I think before I was
probably only getting 75 to 80 degree. before, significantly causing a power
deficit.
I usually take some lessons in the late winter/early spring of every
year and I would consider it an honor to receive them from you. What
would you charge for a day or two of instruction for myself (and possibly
my wife) and how would I go about securing this spot.?
Look forward to your response and thanks so much for all you have to offer.

i personally
have given SA a good solid try and even used the swing for quite some time.
i am convinced that CG is easier to execute IF taught properly. i think
you'd be surprised at just how easy it is. NG/SA to me is awkward, contrived,
and mechanical. not at all natural or simplified. i now use a CG swing a
la "perfect impact" and am striking the ball the best i ever have.
yesterday i put a show on for my brother at the golf range with my new golf
swing. perhaps you should follow your own advice and not knock George's
technique (or George for that matter) before you make the statement "Single
axis is with out a doubt easier to repeat and faster to learn than conventional
golf". i for one whole-heartedly disagree with that statement. that's
coming from someone who has tried both NG/SA &; a properly taught CG
swing (perfect impact).
